The IDAGIO Christmas single: 'Twas the Night before Christmas - Thomas Hampson, Alma Deutscher
A rainy day in early December 2018 in a studio in the small Austrian town of Raiding, 50 miles south of Vienna: the baritone Thomas Hampson is recording a very special song. But while Raiding might be the birthplace of the great Franz Liszt, this song comes from the pen of Alma Deutscher. Now 13, Deutscher originally composed her setting of the well-known poem "'Twas the Night before Christmas" when she was just eight. She has reworked it especially for this recording and not only accompanies Hampson at the piano, but also adds parts for violin and celesta, which she recorded separately to be added to the recording. The result is a uniquely enchanting performance – a special present from IDAGIO to music-lovers across the globe.
