RCM Student Ian Lim on IDAGIO's Mentorship Program
IDAGIO“Being mentored by IDAGIO still feels like a dream,” shares Ian Lim, following a mentoring initiative between the Royal College of Music and IDAGIO to guide the next generation of rising classical musicians.
Ian Lim, a harpist at the Royal College of Music in London, is in the final year of his Master's Degree and is exploring his future opportunities. As part of his Professional Project module, he was asked to design a platform for the discovery and marketplace of contemporary music.
In October 2023, Diana Roberts, the module leader and development specialist at RCM, asked Ian to compile a list of potential mentors for guidance, encouraging him to 'dream big and aim high.' Following her advice, he reached out to IDAGIO.
Ian is now receiving weekly one-hour tutoring sessions with members of the IDAGIO team. Through these sessions Ian has gained insights on creating a pitch deck, developing a minimum viable product (MVP), venture building, testing tractions and designing go-to-market strategies. He has also learned about various online tools such as Notion and Figma, as well as other notable software and technology companies. While many of the terms and concepts were new to him, the experience has helped to prepare him for future career possibilities.
Ian is particularly grateful to the IDAGIO team for providing valuable guidance through relevant industry-specific knowledge and experience. Despite the intensity of the program, he has developed entrepreneurial skills and experience that he will use for a lifetime.
